WORKSHOP "COMMUNICATIVE SKILLS IN LABOR RELATIONS"

Last Thursday, December 16, on the occasion of the week of coexistence at CIP Tafalla, we attended a workshop on communication skills in labor relations given by Ana Apesteguía, an agronomist dedicated to coaching and training.

In this workshop we were
working on forms and communication skills. It was developed in a theoretical way along with some practical activities.

First, we learned how information is lost in the communication process as more intermediaries exist along the way. To do this, we developed an exercise in which four students had to leave the classroom and meanwhile, one student who remained in the class was shown a figure made up of several geometric elements that later he had to describe to one of the students who was absent. This student transmitted the understood information to the next, and so on until reaching the last. After that, the four students drew on a blackboard the figure that they had understood and interpreted with the explanation received. We observed how little by little the figure was changing with respect to the original due to the amount of information that was lost or taken for granted.

Next, we discuss about assertiveness. How people sometimes move in aggressiveness or passivity, making it necessary to try to move more towards assertiveness. This can be summarized in one sentence: "I respect myself and I respect you." When we transmite something we think about our needs or interests, but we also put ourselves in someone´s shoes, trying to look from their point of view without forgetting our own.

To conclude, we did a personal test to find out how assertive we are in our daily life. Obviously we are aware that everything depends on situations and people who are with us, but it helped us to analyze and evaluate how we act in certain situations and get to know ourselves a little more. Finally, we did another very interesting exercise in which we had to change abrupt phrases into more assertive ones.

A workshop to learn how we communicate, how we would like to be contacted and how we will try to communicate from now on. Assertiveness is a means of understanding and comprehension.
