Freedom Day - 25 April 1974

A very important day for the Portuguese people.

We celebrate the revolt of the captains of April, who on this day, through a peaceful coup d'état, overthrew the dictatorship that ruled Portugal for forty-one years.

Instead of weapons, red carnations circulated, which became the symbol of freedom and resistance to all forms of repression and limitation of individual freedom.

This year, celebrations outstanded that freedom has now outlived the forty one years of dictatorship.
